The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has started using Clearview AI facial recognition technology. As the executive director of Clearview AI, Hoan Ton-That, told Reuters, the American startup will help fight disinformation and identify the dead.
Ukraine has received free access to the powerful Clearview AI face search system, which allows authorities to potentially check suspicious people at checkpoints.
According to the founder of Clearview AI, the startup’s database has more than 10 billion images, including 2 billion photos from the Russian social network VKontakte.
The technology can be used to reunite refugees separated from their families, identify the enemy, and help the government expose false social media posts related to the conflict.
