“In response to Russia’s actions in Ukraine, Canonical has sent a notice of termination of support, professional services and partnerships with Russian enterprises. We will not resume such contacts as long as broad and democratically established sanctions against Russia remain in force,” the company’s blog said.

The company will not restrict access to security fixes for Ubuntu users in Russia. Free software platforms such as Ubuntu, VPN and Tor technologies will be available to everyone. The income that Canonical will receive from Russian paid subscribers for the remaining services will be used to provide humanitarian assistance to residents of Ukraine.

Ubunt is a GNU/Linux distribution based on Debian GNU/Linux. The main developer and sponsor is Canonical. Currently, the project is actively developing and supported by the free community.
