The agency also demanded that Roskomnadzor block Instagram, which belongs to Meta. Sergey Boyarsky, First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Information Policy, Information Technologies and Communications, said that all Meta services will be blocked in Russia in the near future.
The UK, in turn, initiated a criminal case against Meta employees on public calls to carry out extremist activities and on facilitating terrorist activities (280 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation and 205.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The case was initiated “in connection with illegal calls for murder and violence against citizens of the Russian Federation.”
