The operator of the Italian railway network found signs of hacking

Italian state-owned railway operator Ferrovie dello Stato SpA has temporarily halted ticket sales at stations after detecting signs of a cyberattack on its systems.

As reported by the Bloomberg news agency, suspicious actions on the company’s network indicate a cyber incident similar to an attack using the CryptoLocker ransomware.

Passengers are allowed to buy tickets after boarding in order to avoid using electronic points of sale.

Currently, the company’s network is undergoing verification procedures, and railway traffic has not been affected.
