The Ministry of Industry and Trade proposed to oblige the use of Russian equipment for mining cryptocurrencies in the country if it is available and available on the market. The agency believes that this will help “neutralize the risks of information security.” This is stated in the response of the head of the department Denis Manturov to the proposals of State Duma deputy Anton Gorelkin (United Russia), RIA Novosti reports.

“In order to mitigate the risks of information security, it is proposed to establish a legislative requirement for the preferential use of Russian hardware and software complexes, radio-electronic products and software, if available and available on the market, for industrial production (“mining”) on the territory of the Russian Federation of cryptocurrency assets, ” says the document available to RIA Novosti.

The deputy presented a package of proposals for regulating the cryptocurrency market in Russia. Mr. Manturov replied that the Ministry of Industry and Trade is discussing with the Central Bank (CB) and several other departments “approaches to regulating the issuance and circulation of digital currency.” The Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Construction, in particular, proposed to introduce an experimental legal regime for mining. The requirements for using only Russian equipment are also discussed.

Thus, the Ministry of Industry and Trade responded to a package of proposals for regulating the cryptocurrency market in the Russian Federation, compiled by Gorelkin following the results of the March round table, moderated by him, on the EP site. As noted in Manturov’s letter, the ministry generally considers these proposals “relevant and supports the party’s initiative to work with them.”
