The Ministry of Finance proposes to introduce large turnover fines for companies that have leaked personal data. This was stated at an expanded meeting of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy by the head of the department Maksut Shadaev.

According to Maksut Shadaev, the latest mass leaks indicate that the fines, which were doubled earlier, “do not fundamentally save the situation.”

The head of the Ministry of Finance cited the experience of other countries, where such fines reach tens of millions of dollars, if we are talking about sensitive data that the company has not protected. If the leak is allowed by a state body, then Shadaev proposed the dismissal of responsible persons as punishment.

Earlier, the Zamoskvoretsky Court of Moscow registered a lawsuit against Yandex.Food because of the “mass dissemination of personal data.” On March 23, Roskomnadzor drew up a protocol on Yandex.Food LLC on the fact of leakage of customer data, for which the company faces a fine of 60 thousand to 100 thousand rubles.
