The extortionate Hive group stole 850 thousand personal records from the American medical organization Partnership HealthPlan (PHP).
According to experts from the Sentinel Labs information security firm, the extortionists used a new technique called IPfuscation, masking their payload under a harmless series of legitimate IP addresses.
A major US healthcare provider has confirmed the cyberattack by reporting abnormal activity in some computer systems on its network.
Currently, the organization is cooperating with third-party information security experts during the investigation of the incident and the restoration of full functionality of the affected systems.
