Roskomnadzor decided to fine Wikipedia for not deleting information about military operations in Ukraine, which the Prosecutor General’s Office considered unreliable.

“Roskomnadzor will draw up a protocol on an administrative offense under Article 13.41 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation in relation to the Internet portal Wikipedia for not removing unreliable socially significant materials, as well as other prohibited information,” the Roskomnadzor website says.

Roskomnadzor has sent a corresponding notification to the administration of the online encyclopedia, in which it is required to immediately delete false information on the subject of the special military operation of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in Ukraine.

The RCN added that according to Russian legislation, the owner of the site faces administrative liability in the form of a fine of up to 4 million rubles for failure to remove such illegal materials within the prescribed period.
