On April 4, Roskomnadzor, based on the received request of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation, sent a request to the Wikipedia administration to limit the dissemination of unreliable socially significant information.

“Recently, Wikipedia has been massively posting materials that spread false information on the subject of a special military operation in Ukraine and the actions of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. Wikipedia has become a new line of constant information attacks on Russians.” – the regulator reports.

According to Roskomnadzor, “The authors of articles posted on Wikipedia purposefully misinform users of the Internet resource with frankly false information. The articles published on the resource promote an exclusively anti-Russian interpretation of events.”

Roskomnadzor has already sent a request to the Wikipedia administration to remove false information about events in Ukraine. The administration of the Internet resource has not yet fulfilled the requirement of the department.

According to Russian legislation, the owner of an Internet resource who has not deleted illegal information at the request of Roskomnadzor faces administrative liability – a fine of up to 4 million rubles for legal entities (Article 13.41 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation).
