A major Ukrainian Internet provider Triolan was hacked twice by cybercriminals. According to sources of the Forbes publication, the first hacking occurred on February 24 this year, and the second on March 9.

“Now engineers are working on restoring Internet access,” said a representative of the Internet provider Triolan.

Three other sources in the company and a former co-founder of the business confirmed the cyberattack. In addition, some of Triolan’s internal computers stopped working because the attackers reset the settings to factory settings. Difficulties arose with the restoration of computer systems, since in some cases specialists needed physical access, which was impossible due to the fighting in the city.

According to the company’s representatives, “key network nodes” were hacked, and some routers could not be restored. To date, 70% of nodes in Kiev, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Poltava, Odessa, Rivne and Zaporozhye have been restored.

Various outages across Ukraine were caused by the physical destruction of infrastructure. In the Kherson region in the south of Ukraine, “serious Internet failures” were registered due to downtime at the providers “Ukrtelekom” and “Volya”.
