Over the past few days, the number of cyber attacks on the servers of the Polish government and the nationwide cost calculation system has increased.

According to the Polish Secretary of State for Digital Development at the Office of the Prime Minister of the country Janusz Cieszynski, the source of cyber attacks carried out against the backdrop of a full-scale offensive by Russian troops on Poland’s eastern neighbor Ukraine has not yet been established, writes Reuters.

In recent weeks, Ukrainian government networks have also been regularly subjected to cyber attacks. Kiev blames Russia for the attacks, but Moscow denies involvement.

According to Cieszynski, the attackers attacked the website of the nationwide cost calculation system and the government’s mail servers.

The director of the Polish state-owned energy company PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna, which is the country’s largest electricity producer, Wojciech Dabrowski, said that hackers also tried to attack his company’s IT networks, but without success.

Earlier this week, Poland raised the level of cybersecurity warnings, obliging critical infrastructure operators to carefully monitor their networks for suspicious activity.
