A unified system for blocking spam calls will appear in Russia. It will start working on June 1. This is reported by Izvestia with reference to the antimonopoly service.
A memorandum on the creation of a system for blocking unwanted calls and messages was signed by the FAS and representatives of the “big four” mobile operators (MTS, MegaFon, Beeline, Tele2) back in June 2021. Recently, the service has been receiving a large number of complaints about a new type of spam calls from abroad using fake numbers.
A special application form will be available in the second quarter of 2022, the FAS clarified. It is assumed that the subscriber will be able to leave a complaint about advertising received without his consent on the FAS website or his operator. The number will be blocked in the general system within 72 hours.
Such a system will be effective, but it is worth checking appeals so that customers block only the authors of mailings, experts noted. To do this, you can connect the analysis of call statistics and a robot filter, the experts said.
In 2021, MTS and Megafon launched their services to protect subscribers from spam, during which time 272 million such calls were blocked, the antimonopoly service reported. Beeline and Tele2 will start operating similar systems in the second quarter of 2022.
